Smart Phones Beating Up On Point & Shoot Camera Sales
Monday, December 26, 2011 at 9:38AM 17% drop in lower end point-and-shoot sales this year. Ouch.
That made me think about my own usage. I have noticed that I go for the iPhone more and more. One of the biggest reasons, besides that the iPhone is always with me, is Apple's Photo Stream service. This is a killer feature for me, after taking some pics with the iPhone I know that in a matter of minutes it is available on my iPad or Mac via photo stream. And more than likely i am picking up my iPad, it has become my default photo editor.
So the solution would be simple. All that one of the big camera manufactures needs to do is build in 16gb of internal memory, build in wifi and some software that plays nice with Photo Stream. Not that hard to do. Actually the memory and wifi has been done on various models but never together, as far as i know.
